Priority Tasks and Coordination Info (Current as of April 26)

  • Proceed with primary target construction (Jim and Marco and Ken)
  • Complete procurement of Ta and W components. The current agreement is for 15 micron Ta and W ribbons for the production target. 40 or 150 micron wire is ok for the alignment target, and is on hand at SLAC. (Dieter and Clive)
  • Obtain carbon foil material. This is being coordinated by D. Higinbotham.
  • Confirm heat load on the target assembly that must be dissipated.
  • Develop a final proposal for the attachment of the cooling plates to the target assembly as well as the nitrogen lines (N2 gas at 1 atm pressure to cool 30 W, tentative) to the cooling plates.
  • Develop assembly (at SLAC) plans, as well as delivery and installation at JLab (pending schedule).

Meeting Agenda for April 29

The tentative agenda is:

  • Overview of target status and discussion of priority tasks (shown above).

April 11: Information on attachment of the target system to the waterfall lifter

Bogdan Wojtsekhowski is designing components for the waterfall lifter. Marco Oriunno must coordinate with Bogdan to make sure that the two systems are compatible. The sketched below are from Bogdan (on April 11):

April 7: Required Fix for the April 2 Design

In response to the recent requirement to use the waterfall lifter, 1.5 cm must be removed from the April 2 drawings (from 33.5 cm to 32 cm) so that the vertical tolerance is satisfied. By request from Marco, Philip Schuster has provided a sketch to suggest how this can be done with minimal impact on the April 2 design.

Revisions will be added to the April 2 design during the week of April 5-9 (by request of Marco).
